About Leigh Maclaren
“There are two kinds of photographers; those who compose pictures and those who take them. The former work in studios. For the latter, the studio is the world… For them, the ordinary doesn’t exist; everything in life is a source of nourishment.”
-Ernst Hass.

London- what a brilliant place to be based as a photographer. The gateway to so many more amazing places and fantastic adventures.
Photography is part of who I am.
Travel means different things to us all. For me it’s about documentary. Feelings, faces, moments in time. The beauty and the ugliness. A world that is so rich in culture, waiting to be explored through my lens.
I have witnessed wealth and poverty in their extremes, and believe that an understanding of our world’s “rainbow of culture”, through my meetings with so many different people, has influenced the relaxed, documentary style of my photography.
I studied traditional photography at the Newcastle School of Art, Australia, and built a photography business at nineteen, encountering many challenges throughout those first six years. I’m a firm believer in the saying “what doesn’t kill you will only make you stronger” and have observed this strength of character in many of the inspirational people I have met upon my journey.
As someone who loves life and adventure, I will continue to strive for excellence behind the lens- for all that is not yet captured!
Leigh Maclaren.
